We invited the Vacation Bible School kids and their families to celebrate with us Sunday, June 29. We all experienced the joy and energy of the kids as we worshipped Jesus together. And it was great to meet new kids and their families! Thanks to the Green Campus congregation for remembering what it’s like to be a kid.
VBS 2009 Report
The Bible is full of parties. The Chapel celebrated a few of them last week at the Green Campus during VBS!
Monday, June 22
We got off to a great start! The Green Campus was rocking with “The Party” going on. We had 507 kids and 106 helpers filling the building. The VBS Band got the party started, and Kenton and his “baby brother” Zac took us on a journey to explore the birth of Christ. The kids then travelled in smaller groups to experience crafts and hear our excellent story-teller, Amy. View Monday's video.
Tuesday, June 23
We had 479 kids and 105 helpers. We celebrated the baptism of Christ. Our giving project this year was the purchase of yarn for knitters in our congregation to make blankets for kids in Mozambique. We even had several women who volunteered to teach elementary kids to knit. After Tuesday, we had collected $85.89 for buying yarn. We also started collecting boxes of Mac 'n' Cheese for the food closet, and we started two impressive towers (boys against the girls). View Tuesday's video.
Wednesday, June 24
We had 471 kids and 119 helpers. We focused on the parables of the lost coin and the prodigal son and the party that takes place when something lost becomes found! The Mac 'n' Cheese towers grew monumentally, and our giving for yarn for Mozambique was $212.90. Check out these videos from Wednesday: Lost and Found.
Thursday, June 25
We had 458 kids and 114 helpers. The kids brought in $191.45 for yarn for Mozambique, which brought the total to over $700! The Mac 'n' Cheese towers were so tall, they were falling over. The message was about salvation and the ultimate party in Heaven, and we had at least 10 children receive Christ! View Thursday's video.
Friday, June 26
We had a wonderful family carnival! We had a closing celebration in the Worship Center, then we went outside for games, food, and activities. View Friday's video.
Thank You!
Thank you all for praying for the kids and the staff this week. We felt your prayers! And "thank you" to our volunteers! We could never have done VBS without their help. They were classroom helpers, craft workers, recreation help, video and audio helpers, storytellers, nursery helpers for volunteers with young children, and carnival workers.

Join us in asking our Father for effectiveness in reaching and discipling kids this summer and and for the safety of our campers and staff.
There will be no July 4 festival/carnival at The Chapel this year. Celebrations will take place throughout our communities and neighborhoods, and we encourage everyone to join with neighbors and family in the festivities. We want to be the church "out there."
To get in-depth information about The Chapel in a classroom setting, we invite you to The NextStep, a one-session class that will give you all the information you need to decide if this is the church for you. Visit our guests' page.
Have you ever considered leading a small group? We are always looking for new teachers, leaders, and hosts! Check out our potential leader FAQs, or contact Stephanie.
David will serve on staff as our executive pastor overseeing daily operations and developing vision and strategy as we move forward and "Embrace Tomorrow." Learn more about David.
We are pleased to announce Janice Kelley as our new director of children’s ministry. Learn more about Janice.
